Forget fighting for a reservation & dealing with crowds on Valentine’s Day – have an intimate night in creating a meal with your honey. Try to re-create your favorite restaurant’s signature dish or buy each other random ingredients & make it a challenge to see who can pull together the best meal. Pair it with fancy cocktails or your favorite beverage. Set the table, light some candles & enjoy your romantic Valentine’s Day date!
2. Rent a Cabin
Make your Valentine’s Day date an overnight occasion & rent a cabin/yurt out in the middle of nature. Turn off your phones to truly enjoy each other’s undivided attention. Start the day by taking a hike together complete with a picnic lunch at the summit. Don’t forget to bring your camera along & use the self timer to take adorable photos together! When you get back unwind & soak in the sights. Spend the night stargazing cuddled up around a bonfire with some s’mores.
3. Play Tourist in your City
Make a list of all of the things that tourists do when they come to your city that you haven’t gotten around to yet. Visit iconic structures or landmarks, take a tour you’d both be interested in or just stroll through a neighborhood you’ve been wanting to check out. If you’re stumped for ideas plug in your city here to check out what is available in your area.
4. Visit a Garden
Take your boo to a botanical garden, plant nursery or something similar near you for a special Valentine’s Day date. If you are in a northern city it will be so nice to spend some time checking out all the greenery while it is frosty outside! See who can find the most unique looking plant & challenge each other to pronounce their scientific names. Being surrounded by such beauty will set the mood for a relaxed yet fun time spent together.
5. Take a Class Together
Is there an activity or craft your partner has expressed interest in learning more about? Get in touch with your creative side! Bring them out to a class for your Valentine’s Day date. Dabble in cooking, mixology, dance or reenact that scene from “Ghost” in a pottery class. You’ll learn a new skill & maybe even get to see a new side of your significant other.
6. Have a Themed Movie Marathon
Re-watch the first movie you saw in theaters together, ones that are meaningful to the two of you, romantic movies, or ones you’ve been excited to see. Make it feel special by going all out with twinkle lights, candles, homemade snacks & popcorn. You can also create a theme that pertains to whatever flick you choose, like if you’re watching “Avatar” you can have all blue snacks & use glowing lights! Go above & beyond by gifting your significant other a projector & displaying the movie with it.
