Bring on the drama and give you guests something to talk about! We love adding a little spice into receptions. Here we talk about both the little ways and big ways to make an impression and have your guests leaving happy. This is our guide on how to add entertainment to your reception.
Add on a Photo Booth!
A photo booth is a fun way for your guests to take silly photos and create lasting memories. Many photo booth companies offer customizable backdrops and props to match your theme. A photo booth can provide entertainment and serve as a fun souvenir for your guests to take home with them.
Hire a DJ!
A great DJ can keep the party going all night long! Put together a list of your favorite dance activities and request that your DJ incorporate them throughout the night. The Wedding Anniversary dance for instance, is when your DJ invites all married couples onto the dance floor. After a minute of dancing, the DJ asks all couples who have been married for 2 years or less to leave the dance floor, then 5 years, 7 years, and so on until you have the last couple standing. Another fun one is a Conga line!
Hire a Performer
If you’re looking for something a little different and want to really bring on that wow factor, consider hiring a magician, comedian, stunt performer, impersonator, back up dancers for the night, or other type of performer to entertain your guests! One of our couples had a surprise Cirque du Soleil performance (on the left), while another had a Zaffa band (on the right) to hype up their guests!
Get a Karaoke Machine
Rent a karaoke machine or hire a karaoke DJ to set up a singing station for your guests to show off their vocal skills! Designate a specific time of the night when Karaoke will take place to keep guests looking forward to more fun into the night.
Games!
Depending on the venue and the type of wedding you’re having, games can be a fun way to get people engaged and interacting with one another. Think lawn games like a customized Corn Hole set or Croquet, board games, or even a giant Jenga set.
Have Food Stations!
Instead of a traditional sit-down dinner, consider having food stations where guests can sample different types of cuisine. Food can make experiences incredibly memorable! It can be a fun way to keep people moving around, interacting with one another and provide and awesome experience with lots of options to try!
Perform Your Own Dance
Choreograph your own dance to perform! Surprise your guests with a surprise performance and show off your own dance skills. You can incorporate your wedding party, choreography a dance with a parent or guest, or even surprise your partner! Our badass bride below did a fun dance with her father!
Hire A Dance Instructor for your Guests
To get your guests on the dance floor, hire a professional! Having someone teach your guests a fun beginner line dance or other dance can be a fun way to start the night and break the ice!
Reception Table Activities
Fill any awkward silences at the dinner table with table activities! There are many ways to add fun while guests are waiting for dinner or relaxing after. Some examples include Mad libs Wedding Edition, custom fortune tellers with dares, or a date night jar for guests to come up with dates.
Coming in hot and going out strong! The grand entrance and grand exit are perfect opportunities to provide entertainment for guests. See our blog for an extensive list of fun Grand Exit Ideas! And stay tuned for our upcoming blog for grand entrances.
